Topological Superconductor : A Review Theoretically & Experimentally
نویسنده
چکیده
There is a saying that theoretical constructions never go beyond experimental works in superconductor field. However, with recent year’s tremendous development of topological material, scientists realized that topological states of matter can actually be widespread, and hence the idea of topological superconductor became much more interesting and hence numerous theoretical works within the framework of well-established description of topological material seems to have a chance to gain the opportunity to get a step forward. Recent experiments, which in great agreement with theoretical predictions, confirm that. In this review, we first briefly review topological insulators’ theory and get some intuition what topology state means, and then construct basic theoretical description of topological superconductors with consideration of Majorana fermions, then finally briefly analyze and discuss the current status and further perspective of topological superconductors, both experimentally and theoretically.

Optimization of a Josephson voltage array based on frequency dependently damped superconductor–insulator–superconductor junctions
We have developed a programmable Josephson voltage standard based on an array of superconductor–insulator–superconductor junctions. The junctions are damped by an external frequency-dependent shunt circuit, which allows operation at Shapiro steps with n.1. We derive optimization criteria for the design parameters for a fast and stable array with low power consumption. An array able to generate ...

Topological superconductors represent a newly predicted phase of matter that is topologically distinct from conventional superconducting condensates of Cooper pairs. As a manifestation of their topological character, topological superconductors support solid-state realizations of Majorana fermions at their boundaries. The recently discovered superconductor Cu(x)Bi(2)Se(3) has been theoretically...
متن کاملLimitations in cooling electrons using normal-metal-superconductor tunnel junctions.
We demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally two limiting factors in cooling electrons using biased tunnel junctions to extract heat from a normal metal into a superconductor. First, when the injection rate of electrons exceeds the internal relaxation rate in the metal to be cooled, the electrons do not obey the Fermi-Dirac distribution, and the concept of temperature cannot be applied ...
متن کاملMeissner effect in diffusive normalmetal / d-wave superconductor junctions
The Meissner effect in diffusive normal metal / insulator / d-wave superconductor junctions is studied theoretically in the framework of the Usadel equation under the generalized boundary condition. The effect of midgap Andreev resonant states (MARS) formed at the interface of d-wave superconductor is taken into account. It is shown that the formation of MARS suppresses the susceptibility of th...
متن کاملPhase diagram of electron systems near the superconductor-insulator transition.
The zero temperature phase diagram of Cooper pairs exposed to disorder and a magnetic field is determined theoretically from a variational approach. Four distinct phases are found: a Bose and a Fermi insulating, a metallic, and a superconducting phase, respectively. The results explain the giant negative magnetoresistance found experimentally in In-O, TiN, Be and high-T(c) materials.
